Today I’m sharing one of my latest Etsy obsessions- ARMINHO. ARMINHO is a creative design studio focused on handmade products. created on 2011 by João Rodrigues and Raquel Silva. I love that all products are sourced using local materials, from their base in Portugal.
Today I bring you the work of Todd Hido, a San Francisco-based artist whose work has been featured in numerous museums and galleries around the world. There is a dark, haunting quality to his work that resonates with me. His style and substance remind me of a David Lynch film, where something uncomfortable and darker is just slightly beneath the image’s veneer. Below is a selection of some of my favorites. Be sure to check out his site to view his portfolio in its entirety.
Today I’m inspired by the work of Eisen Bernardo, a Filipino graphic designer based in Hanoi, Vietnam. I came across an image from his series Mag + Art the other day, and am featuring my favorites from the series below.
The project in his own words:
My Mag + Art series is a collection of magazine cover and classical painting mashups. Famous paintings of artists like Boticelli, Ingres, Klimt and Picasso were overlain with iconic covers of popular magazines like Life, Time, Harper’s Bazaar and Rolling Stone to produce funny and interesting visual combos. This ongoing project on Tumblr is my way of giving homage to the magazines – as venue of human artistic expression and vehicle of popular culture.
Today I’m inspired by the illustrations of Rosie Harbottle. I love her folk-art inspired style and her chosen medium of watercolor, (side note: I ALSO love her paintings on leather jackets. Now officially on my wishlist). Featured below are some of my favorites, from her portfolio and her Insta feed. Enjoy!
