Home #1

I’ve been thinking about home a lot lately. Both literally and as an abstract concept. My home plan for 2014 was to pair down “things” but add more beauty and functionality to my home. A day after my new Killim rug arrived from Pottery Barn (and a week after I rearranged my entire apartment), I got a knock on my door. It was my landlord, telling me she would not be renewing my lease. My home of four years would not be mine, and I was to be thrust out into a world of an overpriced rental market in Brooklyn.

So… I present to you Home. A new little piece I’d like to add to my blog, about home and creativity. As Le Corbusier said, “Home is the treasure chest of living.”

To kick this off, I’d like to share with you my friend’s apartment, featured in this awesome new blog called Some Girls. I wrote about Lucky Horse Press last year, and the proprietor happens to be a good friend with an awesome professional and personal style all her own. I’ve written way to much as it is… let’s cut to the pics! And by all means, check out the full story over on Some Girls.

Inspired by… Lucky Horse Press

Today is an exciting day for me, because with great pleasure and pride I am featuring one of my very best friends, Michele Lee of Lucky Horse Press. I’ve watched her grow her business over the last year- from perfecting her letterpress printing techniques, to pouring herself into her illustrations, coming up with a name for her business, designing her logo… you get the idea! I hope you enjoy her work as much as I do, and if you’d like to support a small business owner, just starting out, you can buy everything featured here over on her Etsy store.
